Coming from an Asian background, I have known food to be our passion! But there are some people like me who my friends call ‘disappointment’, WAIT, don’t judge me, Thats only because I don’t eat like they do. They LOVE eating but I am usually not so much bothered. Sometimes we get excited with our menu planning, especially on a weekend when you just sat on your sofa with hot tea mug. But when the working week starts you’re not going to want to make it because after finishing work you want to relax, however list of other house chores is usually never ending and if you have kids it’s even more hectic.
So pre-planning and having healthy meals is usually ideal and also the other benefit of limiting our caloric intake for the week gives us opportunity to enjoy the weekend and to indulge in more ways than one.
I personally don’t eat beef, lamb is very limited, which means once a week maybe. I prefer Vegetables, Lentils, Fish and Chicken meals, which usually I can eat with rice, Chapatti or Salad. These meals are quick to make and healthy. To be very honest my meals are very random mixture of ingredients or sometimes its called ’empty the fridge recipe’.

While I am talking about healthy meals, don’t forget the portion sizes and most importantly eat EVERYTHING! Even though I don’t like to eat everything either but I try. Everybody has their own food preferences, so it’s important to figure out what works best for you. For example, I don’t put beef on my menu because I know I don’t like it so I won’t even buy beef.
What we eat is important not only for our physical health but also very important for our mental health.
My meals are usually very small portions and it could just be mushy pease warmed up with salt and pepper and salad but that’s because I have been use to eating small portions since years so my stomach will set off the alarm as soon as its full. Once we commit to anything for a full month, it’s actually rather straightforward to just keep on doing it.

I always start with less and add more to my plate if I want to eat more, because we shouldn’t waste food or force feed to finish everything. At times when I feel depressed the first thing happens to me is I lose my appetite, then I survive on fluids. I never drink boxed juices with added or ZERO sugar, Its a NO!. I love my freshly squeezed juices, usually I make them at home which can include Apple, Peer, Orange, Carrots etc.
I do have a confession to make and that is I do drink Coke, that is the only fizzy I drink and as we all know it contains a lot of sugar so its not as regular but it increases when I am feeling down or eating out. For hot drinks I only drink green tea and no other hot drinks, I have never tried coffee in my life. Well, I think it’s time for me to come clean and another confession: I don’t like cooking as much and that too for myself, But don’t panic, I don’t order takeaways or eat out! Since I have moved to my own house I do cook a lot more but its not as yummy as my sister’s food. I can never compete with that so won’t even try.

So I do cook primarily from scratch, because this is both cheaper and healthier. I just don’t rely on pre-made or pre-packaged foods. However I do follow cook-n-freeze strategy. I know people who dread cooking like, totally hate it and yet, they do it every single night. And hate it every night. This way you will be able to your home made meals and yet not cooking everyday.
