Italy is one of my most favourite countries to visit. Because the country is full of diverse and interesting cities and towns to visit. Bridges in Venice are all unique and different from each other. The scenery is spectacular and the history is fascinating! not that I am interested in knowing the History but I know a lot of people do. It is brilliant for family travel or with friends and I’ve done both! So here am I again with 2 of my partners in crime!

The floating city of Venice, the city has left its mark on many places of the known world. Today, it is a tourism magnet, with millions of visitors from around the world visiting the city each year. First day when we landed and started our journey to the Hotel, which was initially booked with the flight, did we know what surprises were waiting for us?! To get around in the city you either walking or using boats and our Hotel was pretty far. But with holding our shoes in our hands and our suitcases on our heads and walking through that disgusting and dirty water on roads we weren’t going to get far, DID YOU ASK WHY?? because we didn’t expect to be welcomed by the flood, rain and storm. Due to this horrible weather, no boats were available and after trying many we found some one who was ready to take the risk and charged us double the amount.

When we arrived at the hotel, this was another shock! It was a small cottage type with 3 single beds and just looked so uncomfortable. We decided to go and speak to the management but what happened next was such an unbelievable and unexpected experience. So far this trip was one surprise after another. The management just totally refused to help and ignored us and kept us waiting because we were brown! only three brown girls, who were totally neglected and they carried on helping others. We then decided to find another hotel and late night we started walking for miles and finally arrived at the hotel, by this time we were shattered and all we need was BED!
The colourful canals of Burano.
Finally we woke up next day started our holiday as if nothing had happened, we got ready and went out shopping and exploring the city. Walking shoes are best when visiting Venice. There are many bridges with stairs, and you don’t want to risk a fall or sore feet which I realised when I was there! Also it would be good to know there are only two modes of transport in Venice – by foot or by boat. You can travel on the canals in a water taxi or opt for the cheaper water busses, the vaporetti.
It was a very hot day and we just walked around, did shopping, enjoyed the food. I also loved being there in the evening, or strolling around the canals, watching the beautiful historical buildings. We visited the beach, which I usually avoid since I am not a big fan but both my partners in crime love beach. The day spent at this beach was just hilarious, it was all stress free and we did crazy things. We did sign the beach with our initials 😉
